Start with the right destination

The Maurice Wilkes Building is within St John’s Innovation Park, north-east of Cambridge city centre. The park, the building and an individual organisation’s office are related destinations, but they are not interchangeable arrival instructions.

If you are visiting a business, ask for the name to give on arrival and any specific reception arrangements. A published postal address may identify the building without explaining where a particular visitor should report.

Rail and onward travel

Cambridge North is a relevant station for the northern Cambridge business area. Check a current journey planner for the service you intend to use and allow for the onward journey from the station. Historical development reports discuss the station’s opening; they are not current timetables.

An occupier’s Cambridge office directions can help orient a visit to that occupier, but another organisation may have different instructions. Follow the arrangements supplied by your own host rather than treating one business’s directions as universal.

Driving and parking

Check the route and any parking arrangements in advance. A building’s published parking provision does not establish that a visitor space is reserved or available for your meeting. Ask whether you need a booking, vehicle details or a different arrival point.

Do not rely on old journey-time estimates. Road conditions, the starting point and the time of day can change the practical journey. Leave room in the plan for finding the correct entrance and checking in.

Cycling, walking and access needs

The park’s building information describes cycle provision. Confirm where a visitor may leave a bicycle and whether any access arrangements apply. For walking, use a current map to identify a suitable route to the park and then follow the host’s building instructions.

If step-free access or another specific arrangement matters for your visit, ask your host to confirm the full route, including the entrance and the destination floor. A general facility listing is not a substitute for an arrangement that meets your needs.

Keep a simple arrival checklist

• Name of the organisation and person you are visiting.
• Confirmed building entrance and meeting point.
• Current travel information for the intended date.
• Parking, cycle or access arrangements where relevant.
• A contact channel already supplied by your host.
